How many times have you heard expressions like this? Now, how many do you actually believe? If I'm staring down a rabid dog, no amount of "It's more scared than you are" sentimentality is going to prevent it from going straight for my jugular.

In many ways, this cartoon is a tribute to a much funnier Far Side comic by Gary Larson. In that one, a guy finds a maraca player at the base of his sleeping bag, and his friend reassures him that maraca players are more scared of him than he is of them.

A note on fashion: Notice the knee-length jeans with folded cuffs that the girl character is wearing. That is clear evidence that this cartoon was drawn in the early 1990's. I wonder if that style will ever come back in vogue?
