This cartoon is one of a handful of similarly-themed gags: a wife gives instructions to her hard-of-hearing husband, who always does a wrong thing that sounds almost like the right thing. I know, I know, it's not that funny of a premise to start with, and I milked it far more than it was worth. Mercifully, only two of these drawings made it into my online collection.

Perhaps the least successful spin on this theme was where the husband opens up a door with flames and blood-curdling screams coming out, and the wife says, "I said 'Open the BROOM closet, not the DOOM closet!'". That particular cartoon did not make it into my online collection. Now that there is actually a video game called DOOM, perhaps that one might be worth re-drawing. |
